A Father's Day Tribute
I can't believe that it has been so very long since I posted! If you are reading this, it is amazing! But, if you are...
Just wanted to post an address where you can read a Father's Day Tribute I wrote to honor my husband, Mark. I think it is such a gift from God--the opportunity to do so, I mean. On a Sunday, we picked up a flyer called Abilene Families. I spotted a request for Father's Day stories. On Monday morning, I skipped story time at the library for the girls :-), and wrote in. In doing so, I realized it was so very late, there was probably no way it would be included, but I figured I would print off my email and give it to him anyway. That afternoon, I got a reply from the paper...they were going to print the next day, but would love to use my story!
The real miracle? I actually suceeded in taking a picture of Mark and the girls (good thing he is used to me being camera-happy!), uploaded it, and managed to attach it to an email, all in one afternoon! God is good!

Beverly, I know exactly how you feel. Although my girls were only 8 and 12 (much older than your girls) when I was diagnosed we made a decision to let them know and include them in every step of my journey. I didn't want them to be scared about what they didn't know but rather know what was happening to Mummy and for me to be honest. I told them I wouldn't die and each and every day I prayed I hadn't lied to them.I would have told them the truth if the story was different.
The way we approached my journey worked for us and I now have two girls who are aware but not scared of breast cancer. My youngest had a colouring book that explained about my cancer, about how when I went through chemo it attacked my bad cells and also my good and that's why Mummy felt sick.
I feel I have come out of my journey much stronger than ever before as have my family. My husband has been our rock. He has worked, cared, changed bandages, drain dressings and been there for me. Well done to your husband for supporting you and your girls. We both have great guys.
My email is solmonoid@primus.com.au if you would like to email me privately. We have blogged for a long time.
